What are Maggie Tales™, Instant Storytime™ For Kids?

Maggie Tales are children’s picture books that kids can watch on portable media devices when you and your kids are away from home and on the go.

Developed by educators, Maggie Tales combine narration by school teachers, original music, page-turn tones and page-turn animations to create “storytimes” that can be downloaded or streamed to portable media devices - iPod Nano, iPod touch, iPod Classic, iPhone, smart phone, PDA, Sony PSP, flip phone and most any portable device that plays video.

What is a portable media device?

A mobile device that plays music (like MP3’s) and video (like YouTube, Flash, WMV, MOV, etc.).  Today you can find these features on your:

• iPod (nano, touch, classic)
• iPhone
• Sony PSP
• Zune
• Smart Phones (BlackBerry, Treo, etc.)
• Flip Phones
• PDA’s (HP iPAQ)
• PVP (portable video players)

Maggie Tales will play on all of these devices.  Maggie Tales will also play on your laptop and desktop computer, as well as your AppleTV.

When you are on the go -- riding in the car, waiting in line at the store or at a restaurant, on the phone or shopping -- you can immerse your kids in a fun and enriching story even when you can’t read it to them.  Because it is “always with you,” you have a positive distraction for restless kids when you need it.

How do I get Maggie Tales onto my iPod/iPhone/Apple TV?

If you have iPod/iPhone/Apple TV:

1. Go to Maggie Tales in the iTunes Store.
2. "Subscribe" to Maggie Tales to begin downloading stories as free podcasts.
3. Include “Podcasts” as a download preference for your iPod.

You will automatically get new Maggie Tales as they are published.

If you do not have iTunes on your PC:

1. Go to Apple.com to get your free copy of iTunes from Apple.

2. Open iTunes and click on the iTunes Store.

3. Search “Maggie Tales” in the iTunes Store.

4. Click on "Subscribe" and the Maggie Tales will begin downloading as free podcasts.

5. Include “Podcasts” as a download preference for your iPod.

You will automatically get new Maggie Tales as they are published.

How do I get Maggie Tales onto non-Apple devices?

The most popular formats for the most popular media devices are included in the Storytime Library at MaggieTales.com.  To download a maggie Talefor your Media device:

• Click on the "Storytime Library" at the top of this page.
• Click on a book cover.
• Choose the format for your media device from “Download This Storytime” on the left side of the page.
• Once the Storytime has download to your computer you can upload the Storytime to your device.

Is Maggie Tales really free?

Yes.  Because of sponsorships by major corporations and individuals, we are able to provide Maggie Tales free to the end user – you.  The sponsorships are similar to the PBS approach.  The revenue from the sponsorships pay for production and royalties for authors and illustrators. All sponsorships are targeted at moms and dads but not kids.
